the Countryside Alliance [the Countryside Alliance] BrE NAmE
a British political organization formed in 1998 which ↑campaigns for people living in country areas. It is best known for its campaign against the law banning fox hunting (= a sport in which foxes are hunted by dogs and by people on horses) but it also ↑campaigns on issues which affect farmers and against the closing of services such as post offices in country areas.
